Practice your butt off

The only thing that separates you from somebody who has done what you are trying to do, is practice.

Practice your ass off.

If you want to get good at something, whatever it is. Practice your damn ass off.

My problem is that I want too many things too quickly. And so when I go after them I quickly get overwhelmed. Too many things, means too many directions. Like an octopus on rollerskates. Not a good idea.

So narrow it down. Waaaaaayyyyyyy down. Down to like 5 things. Then down to 2 things. Then down to just one thing. Really… just one thing at a time. This is the only way to move forward.

Multitasking is bad for you. (It’s scientific even) Unless you’re wildly abnormal, which maybe you are. Then kudos to you. But I’m not.

Then, once you’ve found that one most important thing. The thing that you can’t not do. Then you start doing it.

Now, the trick is to keep doing it. Keep doing just that one thing until you’re done. Facebook and youtube and google are the antichrist when it comes to getting shit done.

So how do you keep doing just that one thing? (or, How do you get to Carnegie Hall?)
